2024: Ins & Outs

Hi Hauters! For my first blog post, I figured let's do something fun and fresh. Not fresh as in original but fresh as in a fresh outlook on life to correspond with this new adventure of mine. I've seen this "Ins and Outs" trend going around TikTok for a bit now and thought I would share my take on it:
In:
The Color Silver: I know this was a huge trend in 2023 but I'm realllyyyy hoping it is here to stay because I think this is officially my second favorite color (the first being pink of course). I've got the silver pants, shoes, jewelry, and bags... now all I need is a top! Expect a monochromatic silver look coming from me shortly. See below for some Haute-approved inspo.
Drinking Water: Putting this on here because I actually have to get better at drinking water. My health depends on it. I ordered this cute, pink 1/2 gallon Simple Modern water bottle on Amazon to help motivate me. Maybe it will do the same for you!
Gua Shaing: Okay I really want to try the NuFace but am worried I won't do it consistently enough to see results. Therefore, I am taking the cheaper route! I recently purchased a gua sha on Amazon and am, as I have been saying, on my "gua sha" journey. I have been doing it every morning after I apply my moisturizer. Don't forget to open up your lymph nodes beforehand, and stay tuned for my Bella Hadid results to come.
Forever 21: Sharing my secret here. I hadn't bought something from Forever 21 in so long until I went to the Park Lane store back in October. I walked in and could not believe my eyes! I found some of the cutest, trendiest, and most affordable pieces there. Dare I say, their online section is even better. Plus, they always have a sale going on. Dropping below some of my recent purchases.
Styled Hair: If you are lucky enough to see me Sunday-Thursday, there is a 99.9% chance my hair is up in a bun. In 2023 I got so lazy about styling (and washing) my hair. While I am sticking to washing my hair 2-3x per week, I have a newfound motivation for my hair to look good, even when I am just working from home, alone in my apartment. 2024 is going to be the year I perfect my blowout and styling routine. Call it a "Look Good Feel Good" mindset, or call it the guilty conscience I have after purchasing the Oribe GoldLust shampoo/conditioner set and Dyson AirWrap. Whatever you want to call it, good hair days are coming my way!
Out:
Capsule Wardrobe: This is such a hot take. If you have seen my closet, you know I'm a big fan of colors, textures, patterns, and the whole shabang. I just think that life is short and so you should experiment with your style, try new things, look back and cringe, repeat. While I know the overarching meaning of the "capsule wardrobe" is to practice more conscientious consumerism, there has to be another way than a closet full of neutrals.
Dunking Your Face in Ice Water: Has anyone actually done this?? It is the WORST. I did it the other morning for the first time in an attempt to do some much-needed self-care after one too many margaritas the night before. It was horrible. It burned. I got a massive headache. I could barely last 10 seconds. I do not see the appeal here.
Negative Self-Talk: Over the summer, I listened to the Call Her Daddy Episode with Shay Mitchell. I remember Shay saying that you will never hear her talking down to herself. She will never say "I look so ugly" or "I'm so dumb" or even "I'm starving." She emphasized the importance of self-talk and how when we say phrases like these, even in a joking manner, we can find ourselves eventually believing them. Guilty as charged, this is a habit I'm currently trying to kick.
I don't have as many outs as I do ins (I'm more of an add-to vs. take-away-from kind of gal) but I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. Comment below what some of your ins and outs are for 2024- I wanna hear!
xoxo,
Hannah
